«History of economics and economic thought of Ukraine»


 

Editorial Board of the journal «History of economics and economic thought of Ukraine» invites scientists, lecturers, post-graduates, specialists in the fields of economy, history and management to cooperation and admission of the scientifically original and valuable materials appropriate to the journal’s profile and to the thematic focus of the standing heads:

  • history of the economy;
  • history of economic thought;
  • theory and methodology of economic research;
  • recent history of social transformations;
  • outstanding scientists;
  • history of scientific institutions;

 

The editorial policy of the journal is based on the principles of objectivity and impartiality on the articles selection for their publications, high standards for quality research, support for new knowledge, collective decision-making to publish the material, no abuse of power by members of the editorial board, accessibility and efficiency in communication with authors, strict compliance with copyright and condemnation of plagiarism.

The editorial board encourages and motivates the authors to observe proper level of formal and ethical requirements for the preparation and publication of articles submitted for publication. These rules are regulated by the standards of quality of scientific papers and their presentation adopted in the global scientific co-partnership, in particular, the principles of Publication Publishing Ethics Resource Kit (PERK), Elsevier recommendations, publications of Ethics Committee (Committee on Publication Ethics, COPE: http: // publicationethics.org / files / Code% 20of% 20conduct% 20for% 20publishers% 20FINAL_1_0_0.pdf, http://publicationethics.org/files/ Code%20of%20Conduct_ 2.pdf), Ukrainian scholar’s Codes of Ethics, as well as the experience of foreign and Ukrainian professional societies and scientific organizations, editorial boards and editorial publications. Editorial board supports Open Access Initiative (Budapest Open Access Initiative: http://www.budapestopenaccessinitiative.org/).

All materials, except reviews and information messages, are subject to double-blind review (the reviewer don’t know knows the name of the author and the author does not know the name of the reviewer), which is carried out by the editorial board members and the experts from the in the field. The review contains the following issues: whether the content of the article corresponds to the title; whether the article contains sufficient material for publication; or whether it needs to be reduced, refined (text, figures, tables) or whether there is a satisfactory compliance with the requirements of presentation, design of graphic material. The reasons for the negative reviews may be the following: lack of novelty, lack of evidence, the inability to conclude (or unjustified conclusion) and outline future, incorrect use of terminology and methodological apparatus etc. In the case of negative review, inconsistencies with the journal’s profile or existence of substantial deficiencies, article can be rejected (author will be informed about it) or returned to the author for revision. The new, revised article is reviewed again. After efficient revision and positive review the article is considered during the meeting of the editorial board, which ultimately approves it by an open vote.

Editors reserve the right to edit, shorten materials accepted for publication (without distortion of the author’s position). The responsibility for the accuracy of the facts, proper names, place names, quotes, numbers and other information is put on the authors. Editorial board condemns any plagiarism. Following the publication of articles in the journal, they will be placed at the appropriate electronic resources. After the procedures of review and approval for publication, a License Agreement  shall be signed between the author and the journal on the transfer of the copyright on the article.

The articles are admitted in Ukrainian and English in electronic form in the file format of MS Word or sent via email. The text must be typed in Times New Roman, font size 14 m, with intervals of 1.5 and standard margins of 2 cm each. The volume of material in this format is 8-24 pages (up to 40 000 symbols). All graphics should be efficiently and accurately recorded in black and white. Separate graphics files should be provided in MS Excel. Scanned or taken from the Internet and inserted into MS Word documents figures should not be used as they are not suitable for printing. Figures and tables should have a title and number. Notes placed directly below the table, the source is indicated (compiled by the source or by author). In front of the tables there should be a reference to it in the text.


 

The essential elements of the article:

 author’s note:

  • Last name, first name, patronymic of the author (authors) in Ukrainian and English;
  • Academic credentials;
  • Academic status;
  • Position (full name of the department or other structural subdivision)
  • Full official name of the organization (in Ukrainian and English)
  • Legal address of the organization (in Ukrainian and English)
  • Contact phone number
  • E-mаіl to be printed in the journal
  • Postal address: we will send you a printed copy of the journal
  • Consent to the placement of the article in open access in different databases (in the form of notes at the end of the text: “I give consent to the placing of material in the public domain”);

code «UDC» (top left) before the name of the author);

the title of the article (in Ukrainian and English);

Extended abstract (in Ukrainian and English) up to 1800 characters. It should be: informative (should not contain common words); original (not to be a carbon copy of a brief abstract); meaningful (reflect the main article content and research results); structured (brief repetition of the article structure: subject, topic, aim, method or methodology, results, scope of results, conclusions); compact (250 words). It should have peculiar language of scientific documents, authors should avoid complex grammatical constructions (which are not used in scientific English); the terminology used should be specific to foreign special (sociological, economic) texts; the unity of terminology should be kept within the abstract and in the text of the article;

key words (in Ukrainian and English);

JEL Code Classification 

structural elements of the article:

  • statement of the problem;
  • analysis of recent researches and publications;
  • selection of the unsolved parts of the general problem that is considered;
  • the formulation of goals and objectives;
  • presentation of the basic content;
  • conclusions and prospects for further research in this direction;

The references or cited sources are compulsory in the article (in particular, for numbers).

In the text, the reference to the source number list should be placed in square brackets, indicating the page number (e. g. [1, p. 17]). References to textbooks, popular scientific literature, own publications are undesirable and are permitted only if relevant. If in the literature review or further in the text the surname of the scholar, his publication must be in the list of references after the article. Secondary citation is not permitted. If a scientist is cited, the reference should be to this scholar, not to the author, who mentioned him/her.

References – sources on this list should be transliterated into Latin and designed according to the international standard bibliographic APA standards (American Psychological Association (APA) Style: http://nbuv.gov.ua/node/929; http://library.albany.edu/cfox#top). In references, the sources in English are not transliterated.
